Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang has urged that efforts be taken to accelerate the transformation of the country's economic development model and promote technological innovation to guarantee a stable and relatively quick long-term economic growth.

Li made the comments during his visit to east China's Jiangsu Province between Friday and Sunday.

He asked authorities to eliminate institutional obstacles to provide additional support to the modern servicing industry, which would help speed up the transformation of the economic growth pattern and adjustment of economic structure that aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of China's economic growth.

Li encouraged enterprises to stick to an innovation-driven development path, combine institutional innovation and technological innovation while they strengthen their competitiveness.

During his visit to the Tianwan Nuclear Power Station, he said the top priority must be the safe and steady operation of the nuclear power plant, adding that further steps should be taken to promote technological innovation to boost its development.

He also demanded efforts be undertaken to foster the development of the logistics sector and agricultural production and promote the construction of affordable housing.
