Goods inspections depend mainly on manually measures. Smuggling products have in these day penetrated into domestic market with sophisticated tricks, making managerial units worried…
The situation of smuggling and transporting illegal commodities into HCMC and provinces has become complicated. The HCMC Customs Department explained that the violation’s reason lies in huge difference of profit between trade fraud and legal business…
Over the past time, many findings with sophiscated tricks made insiders surpised. In July, Sai Gon Port Customs Bureau discovered undeclared products of 600 LCD screens, 200 IBM-branded laptops and 526 CPU with a total value of nearly VND1.5bil. In the first 11 months of 2009 alone, the bureau uncovered over 3,000 violations with the value of nearly VND300bil.
Nguyen Van Phuoc, vice head of Customs Inspection team said new tricks have created many obstacles for the functional units. To say, poor people were hired to hold the position of directors in companies established by traffickers, so functional agencies faced many difficulties in imputing a blame.
To solve the status, the HCMC Customs Department focuses on key localities, areas to map out proper measures. Accordingly, key areas include customs units at Tan Son Nhat international airport, Sai Gon Port, post offices… Besides, key products in the anti-smuggling and trade fraud work consist of automobiles, motorbikes, gold and electronics items and among others.
Earlier, the sector also petitioned the General Department of Customs to issue a guidance document on the implementation of coercive decisions and asked to equip camera system… in a bid to excel goods inspections.
