Electronic customs brings interests for businesses.

After 6 months of launching e-customs, Binh Duong Customs just held a preliminary conference of e-customs launch and collect feedback ideas from enterprises. Most of the businesses said that e-customs should be extended to offer favorable conditions for businesses’ import and export.

Cost and time thrift

According to the Binh Duong Customs, the electronic customs has been so far launched across its affiliates including 9 locations for goods customs clearance with the participation of 152 businesses.

Import-export turnover via electronic customs in the first half of this year amounted US$939.89mil, reaching about 32% of total import-export turnover value per week. The work of launching e-customs in the locality has gone into good operation, helping enterprises enjoy advantages of goods export and import.

On surveys, more than 90% of businesses involving in electronic customs said that time of goods customs clearance runs 30 to 120 minutes faster than customs clearance via internet. Besides, e-customs also helps reduce the quantity of submitted papers sharply as well as economize costs for businesses, especially create transparency for customs clearance.

E-customs expansion

Though e-customs has indicated its preeminence, it remains some problems. Rep of Han Young Vietnam Ltd. said software and connection network sometimes trigger troubles, making enterprises feel insecure when completing procedures for urgent batches. Minh Long 2 Porcelain Ltd also added that the company often encounters errors, owing to network inconnection. The local customs said that its internet network has a capacity of 6 MB, assuring good operation. Businesses’ troubles may be from virus infection or low capacity.

Some enterprises said that e-customs system has yet to be connected widely to border gate customs. The Customs responded, the General Department of Customs has built an inspection system at border gates to cater for e-customs network. This system will soon put into operation and businesses will not need to come to customs agencies to complete procedures.

Many companies hope to carry out direct payment on e-customs software. The local customs said that the unit in cooperation with a software company has perfected payment function on this system. Some businesses also asked the unit to update exchange rate of foreign currency.

Big companies like Hoa Sen Group, Thai Binh Shoes said that local customs should keep developing e-customs widely to offer advantages for businesses and help save cost and time as well as to minimize negativeness in import and export.
