At the annual meeting with business and industry associations in 2021, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee affirmed that the provincial leaders continue to listen to the opinions and suggestions of industry associations, customers and enterprises to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles and restore production and business activities.

At the conference, the prospects for local socio-economic development were recognized and entrusted by the business community. According to Mr. Mai Ba Truoc, Director of Department of Planning and Investment, with the synchronous and drastic implementation of measures, so far the disease prevention and control in the province has achieved remarkable results to restore most activities of social life, production and business. By the end of 2021, the province's gross domestic product (GRDP) was estimated to increase by 2.62%; GRDP per capita was VND 152.25 million; the index of industrial production increased by 4.5% over the previous year. Total retail sales of goods and services was estimated to increase by 3.4%; export turnover was estimated to increase by 13.5%; imports increased by 14.7%; the province's trade surplus reached USD 6.8 billion. The results achieved are a combination of many factors including the contribution of the business community and industry associations in the province.

The business community and industry associations especially appreciated the proactive and flexible management of the province in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic. Mr. Tran Thanh Trong, Chairman of the provincial Association of Electro-Mechanics, said that Binh Duong has created all the most favorable conditions for businesses to operate again, giving autonomy and improving the responsibility of enterprises in prevention and control and anti-epidemic as absolutely the right decisions. The reality has proven that, up to now, businesses can build their own operation plans and really effective epidemic prevention and control plans with the support of units and localities. In the "new normal", the business will still maintain operations; even when infection occurs if there is an appropriate plan to deal with , the safety of employees will be assured.

In order for the epidemic not to break out again, Ms. Phan Le Diem Trang, Chairwoman of Binh Duong Textile and Garment Association, said that the labor-intensive industries are now very worried about the infection situation at the companies. Businesses also want the province to deploy the 3rd dose of Covid-19 vaccines for workers so that they can work with peace of mind. Along with vaccination, Ms. Trang suggested that the province should focus on creating living conditions for workers. In the long term, it is necessary to build more dormitories and social houses for workers to settle down in a peaceful career in Binh Duong.

Mr. Nguyen Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong Furniture Association proposed the establishment of specialized industrial clusters to facilitate wood industry enterprises to operate smoothly and grasp the market development trends. Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Thanh Trong, wanted the province to support domestic businesses to connect with foreign-invested (FDI) enterprises to sustainably develop the supplying chain and limit disruption, especially in the face of the influence of the disease; and at the same time, to raise the level of support to encourage enterprises to innovate and improve productivity and quality.

Sustainable development

Before the proposals of businesses, Mr. Pham Van Chanh, Standing Member of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Council affirmed that the province is determined not to let the disease outbreak again. Up to now, the policy of injecting the 3rd dose to prevent COVID-19 for workers has been available and will be carried out as soon as possible. Binh Duong will create all the most favorable conditions for enterprises to restore production and develop sustainably. The provincial People's Council will work with localities on allocating clean land funds for the development of specialized industrial parks to support domestic enterprises to connect with FDI enterprises for joint development.

At the conference, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said that in 2022, Binh Duong will continue to prioritize epidemic prevention and control to urgently recover and strive to maintain the growth rate. In addition, the province focuses on mobilizing domestic and foreign capital sources to invest in fields with diverse forms, especially, the important transport projects. Implementing the housing development plan for the 2021-2025 to review and upgrade the hostels and to ensure safety for epidemic prevention and control and living conditions for workers and employees have been carried out towards the goal of helping Binh Duong business community overcome all obstacles and to recover strongly and develop sustainably.
