Housing investment for workforce - a new view of businesses

Along with well-prepared infrastructure facilities, accommodation for laborers is a top issue of businesses. Therefore, to solve the issue, local industrial parks’ investors have presently focused on investment attraction in building accommodation for workforce.

Large demand

The entire province has had 28 IPs occupying on an area of 8,751ha, of which 24 IPs are under operation with over 1,200 enterprises. The IPs have lured over 252,000 laborers, 90% of whom are immigrant ones, so the demand on accommodation for workers is very huge. Still, the number of businesses involving in building houses for workers is very modest. Only over 60 enterprises across 15 IPs have so far built houses for laborers, meeting 19% of demand.

Building houses for workers helps businesses maintain production.

The modest figure is originated from planning work that pays less attention to building dorms for workforce. This triggers a mass development of unprompted boarding house areas.

Effective solutions

Facing the status, the local IPs’ investors has recently paid much attention to accommodation building for laborers as well as offered favorable conditions for enterprises to build houses for laborers. Leading in the good deed are investors such as Becamex IDC, Hung Thinh JSC, Nam Tan Uyen IP JSC and so on.

Le Xuan Hoa, general director of Nam Tan Uyen IP JSC, explained ‘as for investment attraction, accommodation for workforce is a very important issue. Therefore right from early days of building infrastructure facilities, the company allocated a big land fund for building dorms for laborers. Specifically, the company spent 5ha to build houses for workers. The housing area is near Nam Tan Uyen IP. Aside from accommodation, entertainment areas for laborers are focused on. This will help businesses operating in the IP enjoy a stable workforce for the sake for sustainable development’.
