Hundreds of workers of Hanson Co. specializing in manufacture of leather shoes  in Ben Cat district-based Tan Dinh Industrial Park were present at provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to receive the arrears of salary by the company on the morning of December 29 of the lunar calendar.

Reportedly, the owner of Hanson Co. has fled since the end of July 2009, due to unprofitable business. It is estimated that the company’s arrears of salary for nearly 700 direct laborers, not including desk staff from May to the first 12 days of July reach nearly VND2bln.

Nguyen Phung Trung, deputy director of provincial DOLISA said that provincial DOLISA, on Feb.11, was allowed to temporiraly advance State money to pay the company’s arrears of salary for more than 700 workers. The first payment was implemented before Tet and the second payment has been begun from yesterday, February 22 to March 31. The remaining arrears of salary for 12 working days of July 2009 will be paid when nessesary procedures are fulfilled.
