With the integral efforts by the State and locals, Lai Hung commune in Bau Bang district has reached positive results in implementing its advanced new-style rural construction program.

Quality of new-style rural area improved

In 2016, Lai Hung was recognized as a new-style rural commune. However, the commune has still made efforts in improving the local new-style rural construction program and is expected to gain advanced criteria of the program in 2020. There are now 100% of commune-level streets covered by asphalt together with systems in terms of traffic, power upgraded.

Leader of the communal People’s Committee said that the commune is expected to reach criteria of the advanced new-style rural construction program this year. Since early this year, the commune has synchronously carried out solutions to improve the quality of advanced new-style rural construction criteria. The commune has upgraded additional 7 streets of 5,200 meters with asphalt together with 100% of schools meeting criteria on material facilities…

Accordingly, the commune’s Party and government will continue improving the operational quality of the local Management Board for new-style rural construction; strengthen coordination between sectors, mass organizations in realizing the program; especially disseminate and mobilize hamlets to maintain criteria of the program in association with realizing the campaign of “All people consolidate to build cultural lifestyle in residential areas”.

Shift of crop plants

So far, the lives of people in the commune have been improved. The average income of the local people in 2019 was VND60million per person. The whole commune is now 13 poor households under the province’s new poverty line. Over the past time, the commune worked with relevant agencies to provide locals with preferential loans for economic development, introduce jobs to them and organize training courses on sci-tech transfer for them.

Among the 19 criteria of the new-style rural construction program, the commune has still faced difficulties in the criterion No.13 on production under the goods value chain for key products, ensuring food safety in association with tourism services. Accordingly, the commune will encourage locals to develop production models. For households with small rubber plantations under cultivation and exploitation, they need to attach special importance to tending them for stable productivity. Whilst, for households with small rubber plantations with low productivity, they need to bravely switch to more suitable crop plants like citrus fruit trees, mushrooms, vegetables…The commune will also brace up farmers to develop production models with sci-tech application, generating hi-quality products.

Along with this, the communal People’s Committee will coordinate with mass organizations, especially the local Farmers ‘Association to mobilize members to set up cooperative, linkage groups for mutual support. The local sectors, mass organizations also need to replicate new models with hi-economic efficiency among locals…
