The US Trade Promotion Conference in the logistics in 2022 has opened up great opportunities for cooperation and development of logistics enterprises in Binh Duong as a chance for businesses to learn information, to develop and establish a position in the global supplying chain.

Talking to us at the conference, Pham Van Xo - Chairman of Binh Duong Import-Export Association, emphasized that despite the context of the domestic economy being negatively affected by the global political and economic situation, Binh Duong province alone has built a strategic vision through socio-economic development goals in a practical and in-depth direction, the sense of creating trust and favorable conditions for enterprises through positive changes in investment, production and business development. Many industrial parks were opened with a coverage rate of over 90% of the actual area. Besides, there is the trend of shifting the supplying chains of many international brands that have invested in China to Southeast Asian countries, of which Vietnam is a country with many advantages. The situation will open up great opportunities for businesses to cooperate and develop logistics services.

Sharing about the transportation, circulation and export and import of goods through seaports to the US market, John McCarthy – the Managing Director of Tacoma Port, affirmed that the goods imported from Vietnam will certainly increase more strongly in the coming time as the US investors and businesses realize the potential and production capacity of Vietnam.

“More than 70% of international containerized cargo moving through the Port of Tacoma is destined for the Central and Eastern regions of North America. Tacoma has a number of specialized shipping lines such as Cosco, Evergreen (EMC), Maersk line, ONE, Yang Ming... Besides, as the port is geographically approximate to East Asia and Southeast Asia markets, Vietnamese goods entering the US through the port of Tacoma will have the chance to access Washington State - one of the states with the largest trade openness in the US as it is ranked No. 1 in the US in terms of exporting aerospace, wood products, coffee, ready-to-eat seafood etc. Tacoma's available advantages include large vessel-ready terminals, intermodal service at the docks, and fast rail transit times to major domestic destinations in the United States to excess loading and unloading capacity and a strong logistics network,” added John McCarthy.

Talking to us, Nguyen Thanh Toan - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, affirmed: “We hope to help Binh Duong and US businesses have the opportunity to learn, exchange and develop business cooperation in services of logistics. The conference aims to update information on the development trend of logistics activities and supply chain management, to support businesses in the province to improve their competitiveness to meet the needs of importing and exporting goods with a modern logistics system, creating motivation for enterprises to innovate, create and manage modern supplying chains to contribute more and more to the economic development of Vietnam in general and Binh Duong province in particular."

Striving to become a satellite center

Nguyen Thanh Toan emphasized that over the years, Binh Duong has made good use of the advantages of its favorable geographical location to invest in building a synchronous and modern transport infrastructure at the same time with the rapid growth of industry. Commerce and services have been creating a strong driving force for Binh Duong to rise to become one of the leading provinces in the country in industrial and urban development. With the advantage of being a developed industrial province and one of the leading localities in the country in terms of foreign investment, Binh Duong is a fertile land for businesses to invest in business, and exploit logistics services with the system of warehouses and means of transport being continuously newly invested, expanded and upgraded to basically meet the requirements of domestic and foreign goods circulation of enterprises.

Therefore, the province determined to focus on developing high-quality service industries, building a network of modern logistics infrastructure for production, circulation and distribution of goods is an indispensable requirement for the economic development of Binh Duong. Regarding the orientation from now to 2030, Binh Duong prioritizes investment attraction and trade promotion in high-tech, environmentally friendly, less labor-intensive, and high-value-added industries and fields, financial services, supporting industries, and high-tech agriculture. Binh Duong particularly strengthens investment attraction to rapidly develop logistics service infrastructure to serve the increasing demand for production, circulation, and distribution of goods, which is an urgent requirement for the sustainable economic development of the province in the near future.

Binh Duong is determined to strive to become a satellite center, a place to gather goods, to concentrate on logistics services for goods production activities in industrial parks and clusters in the region, forming a supplying chain of goods from manufacturers to domestic and foreign consumption markets, promoting distribution to provinces and cities in the region, and exporting to foreign countries, forming a number of regional logistics centers in the province, and at the same time, supporting enterprises to develop logistics services according to the modern and professional motto to ensure competitiveness in the market.
