The imprints within hardship

In 2021, Binh Duong carried out the task of socio-economic development with very high goals. However, the 4th wave of COVID-19 epidemic appeared with extremely complicated developments to penetrate into industrial zones and clusters, which seriously affected people's lives and production and business activities of enterprises. However, thanks to its own internal resources, Binh Duong has gradually overcome difficulties to achieve "dual goals" of effectively fighting the epidemic and ensuring economic growth.

In 2021, industrial production indexes, total retail sales of consumer goods and services, export and import turnover, and credit growth had been maintained compared to 2020. Budget revenue reached the estimate; attracting business registration capital and foreign investment exceeded the plan and increased sharply over the same period. The business community and entrepreneurs have raised the spirit of overcoming difficulties, making efforts to adapt to the new situation to maintain production and business operations and create jobs and incomes for employees. Many businesses have actively donated to funding, vehicles, equipment, factory premises and so on to participate in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.

The outcomes of the indices of competitiveness and administrative reforms at the provincial level had a great improvement in scores and rankings. Binh Duong smart area was honored by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) as one of the top 7 communities with typical smart city development strategies in the world.

Making general assessment of the achieved results, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said that implementing the socio-economic development tasks in 2021 in the context of the complicated COVID-19 epidemic situation and developments, especially at the beginning of the third quarter of the year when the epidemic broke out at a fast spreading speed that greatly affected all aspects. But with the leadership, comprehensive direction, determination, drastic, flexible, creative, and focused actions of the province, the joint effort and consensus of the whole political system, Binh Duong still achieved important results in all fields. It can be affirmed that the results achieved in 2021 have shown the correctness in the direction and administration of the implementation of the "dual goals" of Binh Duong; thereby, creating synergy, unleashing more resources, and gradually helping the province's economy recover and prosper. The foundation is important for accelerating momentum in 2022 and the following years in order to achieve the highest socio-economic growth target with motto of the more difficult it is, the more determined we will be.

Growth momentum created

Experiencing a difficult time due to the Covid-19 epidemic, by the fourth quarter of 2021 and thanks to the control of the epidemic, Binh Duong moved to the stage of safe adaptation, flexibility, and effective control of the COVID-19 epidemic. The province's economy has gradually recovered and regained its growth momentum. The achievements in the socio-economic development of Binh Duong in 2021 come not only from one or a few key reasons, but also from the synergy of many factors which were both subjective and objective. However, the core was the resources and the deepest cause the joint efforts and consensus of the whole political system, people of all classes and the business community.

In 2022, the province strives to complete socio-economic targets, in which the province's gross domestic product (GRDP) should increase by 8 - 8.3%, index of industrial production (IIP) by 8.9%, GRDP per capita about VND 169.8 million a year, export turnover by 14.5%, import turnover by 17%, total state budget revenue in the area VND 60,000 billion, total local budget expenditure VND 20,682 billion, total retail sales of goods and services by 16%, attraction of foreign direct investment capital over USD 1.8 billion, total investment for social development by 10%, creation of jobs for 35,000 workers and many more.

Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, emphasized that in the context of the complicated situation of the epidemic, it requires the dedication and creativity of each level, each branch, each locality and each enterprise right from the first days and first months of the year to achieve the growth target of 2022. In order to successfully implement the socio-economic development goals and tasks in 2022 and in addition to regular tasks, the Provincial People's Committee will focus on implementing key tasks and solutions. In which, the province continues to consistently implement effectively the "dual goal" of preventing and fighting epidemics and protecting people's health along with recovery and socio-economic development in the "new normal".

0All levels and branches need to continue to focus on removing difficulties and obstacles while speeding up the implementation of compensation, site clearance and construction of works and projects in the province, especially the key works and projects to create development momentum for the whole period; they should continue to persist in the goal of improving and improving the quality of the investment and business environment to help enterprises.
