From an abandoned land, Phu Giao today has become a model locality with all 10 communes meeting criteria of the new-style rural construction program. The lives of people in the rural region have also had many changes.
Phu Giao district’s agricultural economy and new-style rural construction program, as of November 2020, reached a lot of considerable achievements.

Accordingly, the district’s Farmers ‘Association in 2020 coordinated with functional agencies to organize 93 propaganda programs on developing, expanding hi-tech agricultural models for 8,604 farmers. As of late 2020, there were 6,814 out of 10,390 farming households winning the title of “good farmer in production and business” at all levels, including 40 at central level, 232 at provincial level, 916 at district level and 5,626 at communal level.
Along with enriching themselves, these farmers have generated jobs for the local laborers. For example, the general farm of Dinh Van Khuong in Binh An commune now reaches the annual profit of billions of dong, creating jobs for 16 laborers with the average income of VND8million-VND10million per person per month.
It is known that thanks to the attention and support of the district’s Farmers ‘Association, many farming households herein have risen up for wealth. Dang Van Truong, the owner of a 10,000 sq.m rock melon farm in An Binh commune’s Binh An hamlet is a typical example for this. With preferential loans from the district’s Farmers ‘Association, he has successfully developed and expanded his rock melon farm with the annual profit of VND1.8billion.
In 2020, the district’s Farmers ‘Association also teamed up with relevant units to help 153 households get more than VND7.75billion in loan; worked with district-based branch of the Bank for Social Policies to strengthen loans to support farmers in promoting hi-tech agricultural models. As of late November 2020, the branch considered and provided 763 farming households with more than VND21.2billion in loan, bringing its total outstanding loans to VND135billion with 4,394 borrowers.
The district’s Farmers ‘Association also organized training courses on sci-tech transfer in cultivation and animal husbandry for members; actively worked with relevant units to hold 39 vocational training courses for 1,940 members. Trinh Duc Dung, Chairman of the district’s Farmers ‘Association said that organizing training courses will help the local farmers bravely apply sci-tech advancements in cultivation and animal husbandry for better results…
