Plenary session of Horasis Asia meeting 2018: Economic outlook

In the framework of the Horasis Asia meeting 2018, a dialogue themed “Economic outlook” took place at provincial Convention and Exhibition Center on the morning of November 26. The event was attended by leaders of sectors, departments in the province; CEOs from top businesses in Asia and Vietnam; scientists at home and abroad.

The overview of the “Economic outlook” dialogue

At the dialogue, speakers, namely Juan Jose Guemes, Chairman of the Startup and Creative Innovation under Spain’s IE Business School; Rajive Kaul, Chairman of India’s Nicco Group; Don Lam, CEO cum the co-founder of VinaCapital Vietnam; Diana Mao, Chairman of the US-based NomiNetwork; Pham Hong Hai, CEO of HSBC Vietnam…, focused on discussing Asia’s economic prospect, the actuality of the global and regional economy, the impacts of the global economy on Asian economy and vice-versa, the impacts of Asia on the global growth…

Speakers said that although facing a series of challenges, Asia has reached robust growth. With this, the region is predicted to further hold its role as a driving force for the global growth and linkage in the next years. Many countries in the region have made efforts in reforming their investment mechanism with priority given to the management of macroeconomics, public finance…But, Asia needs to put forward appropriate policies to handle challenges towards long-term growth…

Diana Mao, Chairman of the U.S-based NomiNetwork said that women around the world are very competent. She believed that they are one of the world’s huge workforces, contributing to creating the shift of economy.

At the dialogue, speakers also mentioned advantages and disadvantages that impact on some countries in the new development trend of Asia and the world. For short-term development, Vietnam will continue enjoying benefits from the optimistic prospect of the global economy. But, the country needs to improve issues on economic structure and increase its capacity in resisting risks for long-term development.
