Province makes efforts in fulfilling targets on socio-economic development

In 2021, the province has set a target of reaching the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth of 8.5%-8.7%. Provincial leaders have asked for sectors, departments and localities to strengthen Covid-19 prevention and control; continued closely following the province’s plan on economic growth and taken solutions to fulfill the set targets.

Good signs

According to a report at provincial meeting extending tasks on socio-economic development in 2021, seriously implementing central and provincial instructions, the province has continued drastically taking solutions to maintain the local safety and make efforts for the year’s growth target. In January, the province’s socio-economic situation remained stable with index of industrial production increasing by 6.55% and 38.96% compared to the previous month and the same period of 2020; export turnover estimated at US$2.98billion, up 1.1% and 61.7% against the previous month and the same period last year; import value estimated at US$2.35million, up 1.6% and 15% compared to the previous month and the same period last year; State budget collection estimated at VND8trillion or 95% against the same period, 15% of the local estimates.

According to provincial Department of Planning and Investment (DoPI), the province in January absorbed US$76.3million in FDI capital. The province was also proactive to drastically implement solutions to remove enterprises ‘difficulties in production-business. So far, the province has lured 154 newly-registered enterprises with total investment capital of more than VND1.17trillion and 9 extra-ones with total investment capital of more than VND1.96trillion. Nguyen Hoang Thao, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that Binh Duong has basically reached the “duel goal” of Covid-19 prevention and socio-economic development under the instruction of the Government. The province last year strived to reach impressive achievements, greatly contributing to the common results of the whole country. This will be the premise for the province to have firm paces in 2021.

Major tasks, solutions implemented

Along with results done, Binh Duong has faced challenges from the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, the province has set 33 targets, including striving to gain the GRDP growth of 8.5%-8.7% and above, the average GRDP per capital at VND161.8million per year. The province’s economic structure is shifted in the right direction with the proportion of industrial manufacture, services, agro-forestry-fishery and product taxes less subsidies at 65.1%, 23.73%, 3.17%, 8%...., respectively.

Mai Ba Tuoc, Director of provincial DoPI said that provincial DoPI will advise provincial People’s Committee on setting and announcing projects calling for investment in each period, in each field in order to catch the opportunity from the shift of capital inflows from foreign investors. The province will also strengthen IT application in administrative reform, improving the local investment climate…

Whilst, Mr.Thao has asked for sectors, departments, localities to boost Covid-19 prevention and control; continued closely following the province’s plan on economic growth and taken solutions to complete the set targets; sped up disbursement for public investment capital of 2020; urgently fulfill investment procedures for public investment projects started construction for 2021.

Provincial leaders have also required sectors, authorities at all levels to make plans, concretize the instructions, plans of provincial People’s Committee in each locality and unit; closely follow the instructions, plans of provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee to take necessary measures, striving to successfully realize 2021’s targets and tasks, he stressed.
