Socialization of trade-service system promoted

Making socialization in the construction of markets, supermarkets and trade centers for trade-service development is indispensable. This task is well realized by TDM city, bringing high socio-economic efficiency.

Rapid growth

Under the Project on “Adjustment of market, supermarket, trade center network development to 2020”, TDM city’s Party Committee and People’s Committee have encouraged and mobilized enterprises to switch a model on market management, thereby improving the local market system, well serving people’s demand for shopping, contributing to the province’s socio-economic development.

In the 2016-2020 period, the city has mobilized resources from enterprises for the local trade-service development. Along with shops, the city is now home to 4 trade centers, 5 supermarkets, more than 30 mini-supermarkets and convenient stores at people’s demand for shopping.

Leader of the city’s Division of Economics said that the city has bent on upgrading material facilities, implementing large-scale retail projects, mini-supermarkets and convenient stores under the province’s plan to promote the local trade-service sector. There are 4 trade centers, 5 supermarkets under the control of the province and remaining 15 markets under the control of wards. Among the 15 markets, there are 13 under socialization in investment, management and exploitation. So far, city-based markets have been invested fully with middle scale and worked effectively. The city has also called for enterprises to make investment in services like walking streets, night markets, boat stations…, step by step forming up and fostering cultural services along Saigon river.

Socialization promoted

The city has actively carried out socialization in building markets with high efficiency. But, this task has still faced obstacles for change, due to both objective and subjective reasons.

For better development, the city has aimed at further realizing socialization in upgrading trade infrastructure facilities, saving the State budget and helping the State tighten control over commodities, improve the quality of market management at markets, supermarkets, trade centers, mini-supermarkets and convenient stores. “To maintain the above target, the city will seek competent investors for development of the local market network development. During the development process, investors and relevant units need to preserve the cultural identities of traditional and modern markets, especially pay attention to the habits of people’s buying and selling, absorbing their participation in exchanging commodities, ensuring the vitality of market in the new period.

The city has continued calling for economic sectors to make investment in the remaining 2 markets, including Ben The and Phu Van, in order to perfect the local traditional market system. In addition, the city has called on investors to get involved in management over TDM market while coordinating with units to research the Binh Duong Avenue-Pham Ngoc Thanh urban-service-trade center and the trade center in association with TOD (Transit Oriented Development) along the My Phuoc-Tan Van expressway, aiming to promote the local trade-service system.
