SSCP – an address for customers’ rights and interests

Established in 2006, the provincial Society of Standards and Customer Protection (SSCP) has over the past time solved many problems relating to the quality of products. In reality, fights against fake products remain existent, owing to less attention from customers.

The local department of Trade and Industry warned that customers should ask assistance from the society as facing fake products. This move helps raise manufacturers’ responsibility and goods healthiness on market. With efforts for development, the society’s target is to protect customers’ rights and interests. On May 31, 2006, the society held its 1st congress to select a 23 member executive board. Most of the board’s members are reps of some local mass bodies and typical manufacturers. The society’s operation is based on voluntariness and non-profit with the principle of fighting for service goods standards and customers’ rights and interests.

In the 2006-2010 term, the society steered officials and public servants as well as functional agencies to solve over 11,000 smugglings, fake product businesses, trade fraud and to destroy 175 tons of expired meat and so on.

The society positively mobilized businesses to join in price stability. As a result, the society memnership enterprise purchased, transported and traded thousands of tons of rice to timely cater for customers.

The society also distributed over 5,000 documents to introduce itself to localities as well as offered over 20,000 leaflets on food safety and price regulation to traders. The society held promulgations across localities, helping raise customers’ awareness.

At present, the society has set up 7 sub-societies across localities and developed nearly 1,000 members.
