Supporters cheer anti-government demonstrators as they pass through an intersection at China Town in Bangkok, Thailand, Saturday March 20, 2010.
The Thai anti-government red shirts led by their core leaders Jatuporn Promphan and Natthawut Saikua returned to the main rally site Phan Fah Bridge on March 19.
The returning followed a massive motorcase procession to press their case for the government of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to dissolve the parliament and to call fresh elections.
Ten of thousands of the protesters led by United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) have converged on Bangkok since March 12 to bear pressure on the PM.
The government has never rejected a proposed peace talk with the red-shirted group, said Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, adding that it is essential to have an agreement between the government and the red- shirts.
Significantly, such an agreement between the government and the red-shirts must be made based on the national interest and democracy, Abhisit said.
