Consumer demand on Lunar New Year holiday will increase. In context of the Covid-19, guarantee of goods supply becomes more urgent. In order not to lack essential goods, provincial industry and trade authority planned to balance goods supply and demand, connect trade, bring Vietnamese goods directly to consumers at a stable price.

To prevent the scarcity of goods
According to provincial Department of Industry and Trade, essential items serving the people in 2021 would have a total value of nearly VND 4,788 billion. During the period before and after Lunar New Year, the total value would be about VND 1,711 billion; 13 enterprises (12 supermarkets) will participate in the stabilization program 2021. The Department also required businesses participating in the program to set up and register selling price of each specific item in the commodity group to stabilize the market, with a lower price compared to the price of products having same specifications, types and quality at the time of registration, and send it to Department of Finance.
Accordingly, Department of Industry and Trade required stocking goods to stabilize the market must ensure good quality, food safety and hygiene. The reserve level ensures the balance of supply and demand in the province's market for some essential items for production, consumption of the people and to response to the Covid-19, African swine epidemic; avoid scarcity of goods, ensure social security, improve people's lives.
Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Trade, directed units to implement the stabilization plan combined with the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize the use of Vietnamese goods", control and maintain common price of essential items, reduce intermediate costs, lower product costs on the principle of no profit losses, ensuring that prices are always lower from 5-10% compared to the market price from time to time. In the near future, the department will continue to mobilize more commercial businesses, producers of essential goods to take part in the market stabilization program in the form of mobile sales or happy market days, programs to bring Vietnamese goods to the countryside.
Provincial Department of Industry and Trade asked People's Committee of districts, towns and cities soon to develop a plan to reserve essential goods to stabilize the market of small business households, supplement local essential goods to serve demands during Lunar New Year 2021. To implement a plan to arrange business order at conventional markets and arrange more selling booths outside the markets to satisfy shopping needs of the people before, during and after Lunar New Year.
To guarantee reasonable supply and price
According to Le Thanh Tam, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, after examining the food supply market, agricultural sector insists that there would be no shortage during Lunar New Year and throughout 2021. Namely, Binh Duong supplies 2,000 pigs to the local market every day, from 3,000 to 4,000 to neighboring provinces, hence there is absolutely no shortage of pork during Tet and in 2021. Currently, the agricultural sector focuses on controlling African swine fever, and prevent another breakout; technical support for farmers, application of biosecurity, ensuring stable food supply for the market. Husbandry households and farms having diseased, destroyed pigs are encouraged not to do re-population but to switch to poultry, other cattle such as cows, goats...
According to the stabilization plan, Department of Industry and Trade directed supermarkets, CP Binh Duong Company and Vissan Company to participate in stabilizing the provincial pork market, commit to adequate quantity and selling at the registered stable prices (lower than market price of 5-10%); encourage food processing enterprises in the area to launch more processed pork products to better meet the needs and tastes of consumers, replace part of the demand for hot meat.
To intensify inspection and control
Nguyen Phuong Dong, Deputy Director of Provincial Market Management Bureau, confirmed that the bureau cooperated with the authorities to strengthen market inspection and control, especially in the period before, during and after Tet. Thereby, to promptly prevent and strictly handle the storage, transportation, trading of contraband, prohibited goods, production and trading of counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, trade fraud and violations of food safety. In 2021, this branch will strengthen inspection of law enforcement on price, measurement, labeling of goods, listing prices, and sales according to the listing etc. in order to prevent hoarding, price hike, to ensure the market stability.
Market Management authority will collaborate with departments, sectors and municipalities to inspect the most essential items, such as food safety in markets, supermarkets, food production and business establishments; checking the measurement and publication of goods quality of wholesalers and retailers to detect price frauds. To check and supervise stabilized selling points, market fairs of bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas to prevent and handle timely counterfeit goods, intellectual property violations, contraband, poor-quality goods.
