In the days near Tet, price of some products surge sharply. The drive makes immigrant workers have particular calculations for Tet shopping.

Nguyen Hong Quan, a worker of Truong Thanh Furniture Company and Le Thi Thu Anh, a worker of Esquel Co. are the newly-married couple. They decide to enjoy Tet in their native land in Quang Tri central province, so they are saving money to buy gifts for their relatives.

Like the couple, other hundreds of thousands of immigrant laborers working at the province have the similar idea. Therefore, immigrant laborers’ demand on Tet shopping is in these days very huge. Grasping the psychology, traders across markets for workers are making efforts to cater for them. Cakes, jams, clothes, shoes and so on are all abundant, plentiful and suitable to workers’ pocket.

The rich are not influenced by economic downturn while the poor always have to have particular calculations for Tet shopping. Many immigrant workers now welcome Tet with many worries about Tet spending.

A young female worker had to make many bargains with an owner of an apparel shop. As a result, she purchased a shirt worth VND120,000 to present to her brother in the upcoming Tet. Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Khanh boasted that he purchased a 32 inch LCD TV set to present to his parents living in Thai Binh Northern Province.

Mrs. Thu Anh revealed ‘Tet shopping is a habit of many immigrant workers. My heart becomes warmer as I carry Tet gifts to my homeland to present my parents and younger sisters’.
