The Viet Nam-Germany University (VGU) will be built on an area of 50ha at Di An district at a cost of US$180 million, excluding compensation costs worth about VND150bil, said the Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan. Of the amount, ODA loan is worth of $160mil.

This is the first public international university in Vietnam. 40 universities of Germany have joined in the project.

The VGU officially opens its first course on Sept. 10, 2010.
