The provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development yesterday held a summing-up conference on its activities in 2009 and set out tasks for 2010. In 2009, the sector reached encouraging results. Accordingly, the agricultural production value was estimated at VND2,623bil, a 4.61% rise against 2008. Of these, agriculture sector increased 4.57%, forestry sector 3.85%, seasfood 8%. Local staple farm products were developed stably, of which rubber output reached 179,998 tons, a 3.09% increase, cattle and poultry meat output won 66,041 tons, an 8.82% rise.

Also the past year, the sector excelled epidemic control on plants and animals and among others. In 2010, the sector targets to increase 3.6% of production value, reach VND55mil in production value for every ha of cultivation, 95% of rural people using clean water…
