Evidences
Binh Duong has been known as the cradle of handicraft villages in the South, such as lacquer, carved sculpture, ceramics, pottery, piggy bank, bamboo rattan, incense production, rice paper, clogs... Besides, new crafts, such as ornamental trees, are emerging. The crafts have been creating valuable art works, contributing to preserving and developing traditional crafts and villages of the province.
Over 20 years attaching himself to ornamental trees, Le Van Ngoc in My Phuoc ward (Ben Cat town) has made a good profit on these plants. Currently, Mr. Le owns seven hectares of bonsai with diverse types. “Each bonsai is a work of art, its shape shows the aesthetics, creativity, the care and effort made. "A natural tree is beautiful, but without pruning and shaping to balance its height and width, it will not enhance the beauty of the tree, it cannot become a beautiful and precious artwork", he confided. It can be said that the time to shape and bend a tree is a long process, requires the artisan to have passion and perseverance. Rough trees, under skillful hands, become living works of art, touching the hearts of many enthusiasts.
With a strong passion, Dinh Cong Thieu (Chanh Nghia ward, Thu Dau Mot city) learned lacquer painting. Because it is not a traditional profession of his family, he must learn from senior craftsmen. In 1984 - 1988, he started his apprenticeship at Dong Tam Lacquerware Complex with the guidance of artisan Nguyen Thi Hoa. In 1988 - 1996, he worked at Thong Nhat Lacquerware Cooperative in Chanh Nghia ward, and continued to learn more about this craft from artisan Tran Van Khiem; after that, he established Dinh Thieu Lacquer. With enthusiasm and passion, he developed many sophisticated lacquer products, well meeting the requirements of domestic and foreign markets.
Growing orchids not only brings good income but also needs meticulousness and creativity in shaping each tree. Nguyen Hong Dieu in Chanh Phu Hoa ward (Ben Cat town) invested in the model of growing orchids and succeeded. On an area of one hectares, she grew mokara orchids, cut branches with many varieties and different colors, enriching her family's orchid garden. In addition to mokara orchids, she also collected and planted more valuable wild orchids. Currently, her orchid garden is well equipped with firm racks and spraying watering system, thus orchid care takes less effort. An orchid planted for more than 1 year brings a stable flower harvest and harvest time lasts from 7-8 years. To be more convenient in orchid production, she joined Hong Duc Orchid Cooperative to share her experience with other members. She drew herself a lot experience to improve production efficiency and above all, satisfy her passion, as growing this plant. She has been an artisan for many years and won many awards of orchids.
