Bach Dang grapefruit fetches good prices

Visiting Ngo Minh Hung’s grapefruit garden in Tan Uyen district’s Bach Dang commune, every one sees numerous grapefruit trees laden with fruits. His over one-ha garden mainly plants two kinds of grapefruits including smooth-skin and sweet grapefruits.

Like Mr. Hung, Mrs. Tong My Le is looking after her grapefruit garden to sell in this Tet season. At present, smooth-skin grapefruit prices at VND200,000-230,000 for ten fruits, green skin grapefruit selling at VND400,000-500,000 for ten fruits. A local farmer estimated to reap about VND20mil in this crop.

Thanks to good soil, land in Bach Dang commune is appropriate to planting grapefruits. According to vice chairman of the communal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tan, the entire commune is home to 420 ha grapefruit, a staple tree in this locality bringing stable life for local farmers.

Normally, grapefruit season herein start jubilant from lunar Dec. 15 and over. However, many growers have harvested this kind of fruit right in the early Dec.

An abundant grapefruit crop brings a warmer Tet for Bach Dang communal farmers in the upcoming Tet holiday.
