In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic greatly affected production and business activities of business communities and lives of all people classes. Therefore, Provincial Party Committee directed drastically, flexibly, creatively and in accordance with the actual situation to ensure good disease prevention control and socio-economic development.

Tran Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Head of Provincial National Assembly's Delegation, visited and encouraged on-duty forces of COVID-19 prevent control at eHome apartment building, Vinh Phu ward, Thuan An City.
To overcome the challenge called COVID-19
2020 is the last year to implement 10th Party Resolution tenure 2015-2020, also the most difficult year for the implementation of socio-economic development tasks of the province, because from beginning of the year, COVID-19 outbreaks on a global scale seriously affected the world economy, national scale, and Binh Duong is no exception. Although there was no COVID-19 outbreak in the province in the whole year 2020, under the impact of this pandemic, production and business activities of enterprises were severely affected. The disruption of import and export, freight transport encountered many difficulties, social distancing, workers were at risk of losing their jobs, etc. all are the negative and immediate impacts of the COVID-19 on all localities. It was indeed a big challenge that was not easy to overcome.
Therefore, Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in the province led and directed the drastic and effective implementation of the "dual goal". That is to prevent control the COVID-19, gurantee the absolute safety of people's health and lives in the province; while striving for economic recovery and development by comprehensive and drastic policies, solutions. Many policies of Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee and People's Council were issued in a timely manner to both prevent diseases and facilitate production business. With the great determination and engagement of the entire political system, Binh Duong overcame difficulties and challenges, took advantage of opportunities to recover the economy, continued to maintain stability and promote socio-economic development.
Ending a difficult 2020 due to the heavy impact of the pandemic, the province's economic growth rate reached 6.91%. Although this is the lowest growth rate of the province from 2016 to now, it is a very high increase compared to many provinces and cities in the region and the national average. The above growth in a difficult context like 2020 is especially meaningful, because in terms of the province's economic size and absolute numbers, Binh Duong made a very important contribution to economic growth of the whole country. Besides, the province's budget revenue in this year reached VND 60,500 billion, trade, services, import and export grew well and maintained a trade surplus of nearly 6 billion USD. The investment and business environment continued to be improved. Binh Duong is still an attractive and reliable brand name to domestic and foreign investors. In 2020, foreign investment attraction exceeded nearly 32% (US$1,845 billion) compared to the plan, the province ranked third in the country in terms of FDI attraction, just behind two major economic centers of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Those are impressive numbers showing the efforts, effectiveness and role of Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee's leadership in completing the "dual goal".
Let the people be benefited
In the development process, Party committees and authorities at all levels in the province have always been unanimous in the policy to ensure economic development tied to social advancement and justice. Development is always oriented towards the goal for the people, for people's interests by effectively solving social problems, securing social security and welfare, making people's material and spiritual life better, and all people of Binh Duong could have the best and most fully benefits from economic growth.
Therefore, over the years, along with economic development, Binh Duong has paid attention to well implementing solutions to ensure social security. Party committees and authorities at all levels in the province strive to improving the material and spiritual life of all classes of people. Meanwhile, the province has implemented some policies and solutions on housing, education, health care, job creation, built cultural institutions, well mobilized resources to take care of disadvantaged groups in society, carried out measures to reduce poverty sustainably.
In 2020, the COVID-19 situation was complicated and affected badly people's income and lives. In addition to social security support package under Resolution 42 of the Government, the province mobilized resources to take care of those who were in difficulties due to the pandemic. During the social distancing period, businesses and people in the province supported this through many forms such as cash, medical supplies, necessities, food, free face masks, ATMs of rice, especially free and discounts of rents for the poor, workers affected by the Covid-19... with a total cost of hundreds of billions of VND. Or during Lunar New Year 2021, due to impacts of the pandemic, many workers could not return to their hometowns and stayed in Binh Duong on Tet holiday. Thus, provincial competent authorities reviewed workers having special difficult circumstances and presented gifts, which were funded by provincial state budget and contributions of socialization sources. These were deeply human activities expressing the sympathy, mutual affection of Binh Duong province.
In order to continue taking care of policy beneficiaries and workers in the area, in the next five years, the province will continue to implement solutions to guarantee social security, including maintaining 100% of families of people with meritorious services to the revolution could have a living standard equal to or higher than the average level of their local residential community; the province will effectively implement the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction; 100% of poor and near-poor households will be fully entitled to all poverty reduction policies and have access to basic social services. In addition, most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups will be taken good care and be entitled to social protection policies according to regulations; and the province will create favorable conditions for workers to access, own all types of accommodation to settle down…
It is forecast that the COVID-19 would continue to develop complicatedly, heavily affect the province's economy and society. However, with the frequent, continuous and drastic direction of provincial Party Committee's, People's Committee, People's Council, the joint hand and contribution of Party Committees, authorities, Fatherland Front, mass organizations, people of all classes and business communities, it is believed Binh Duong could overcome difficulties and implement effectively "dual goal" to both effectively prevent control the pandemic, while ensuring production and business, stimulating socio-economic development, strives to successfully implement the set goals and tasks in 2021 and following years.
Trade surplus reached $2.1 billion
