The provincial program of buffalo and cow development has brought significant achievements. From this program, many farmers have escaped and become rich. The program has brought socio-economic efficiencies.

Changes of life

With its distinctive characters, Binh Duong has many advantages of developing buffalo and cow herds. Launching buffalo and cow development program is considered as a right way over the past 5 years. 

The program has targeted to raise breeding density of local agricultural industry and turn animal husbandry into a main production field… Aside from significances of economy and helping farmers escape poverty and improve their income, the program has raised solidarity and mutual assistance among farmers, creating a linkage in husbandry animal industry.

The program’s buffalo and cow herds have developed as many as 3,244 calves. Through the program, many farmer households have been equipped experiences and techniques of breeding as well as knowledge of epidemic control. Besides, 23,000 farmers have enjoyed training classes on animal husbandry.

A new development trend

To develop constantly the program’s efficiency, it is necessary to have changes in conformity with new period. Addressing the summing up conference on local buffalo and cow herd development program, vice chairman of local People’s Committee Tran Van Nam, said ‘promulgation and mobilization should be kept to instruct farmers and develop the industry in conformity with local targets.

Moreover, local residents’ custom of small and separate animal husbandry should be changed to increase efficiency.

In the period of 2006-2010, all level farmer societies across province built 372 production teams with the participation of 4,471 members and 25 clubs of 515 members. These teams have facilitated farmers’ income improvement.

Over the past 5 years, the program invested VND228bil and offered loans for 17,811 households… Overall, capital sources for the program have been used rightly.
