Nguyen Si Hong Nam’s mushroom farm brings high economic results.
Nguyen Tan Long, vice head of the district Economic Department cum head of the local mushroom growing project, said “mushroom species of linhzhi, Auricularia auricular, Pleurotus… are used by Vietnamese people for many years. These mushroom species contain vitamins and nutritious substances and can prevent some diseases. Especially, the mushroom species bring a big profit for growers. For the profits, we set out a project of growing mushroom with the purpose of helping local people escape poverty’.
The department and mass bodies jointly held training courses on mushroom growing technique and offered capital, breeding trees for local residents as well as organized surveys to other localities of Dong Nai, HCMC to learn about mushroom growing measures.
Among 30 households involving in the project, many typical households escape poverty thanks to project. They include Nguyen Si Hong Nam in Phuoc Vinh township and Vu Van Hung harvesting over 2 tons per crop.
In the initial period of this project, growers collected 15.3 tons of fresh Pleurotus, 4,335 tons of dried Auricularia auricular with the total turnover of over VND684mil.
With the initial results, the local administration will extend the project to diversify agricultural products in the locality. The deed will contribute to improve local farmers’ income and place jobs for them.
