The State Bank of Vietnam’s Binh Duong branch, in collaboration with Binh Duong Electricity Company and banks, checked the safety of all 355 ATMs in the province. As a result, some ATMs with faulty electrical system were repaired and allowed to resume.
Banks need to ensure safety at ATMs
Prior to that, some banks also took initiative in examining the safety of their ATMs. Sacombank, on April 15, cooperated with electricity companies in 45 out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide to check and upgrade over 600 ATMs. According to the examination group’s conclusion, all ATMs of the bank ensure safety for users.
Duong Quoc Cong, an electric staff of BIDV’s Binh Duong branch said that ensuring safety for ATM users is always the top priority of BIDV. In addition to electric safety standards from producers, all ATMs of the branch are currently installed equipment to prevent power leak.
It is known that many ATM users and those who live near areas with ATMs have expressed concern over the safety of ATMs after a little girl was electrocuted by faulty wiring at an ATM of the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) in HCM City.
Regarding the above concern, Bui Van Nu, Director of the SBV’s Binh Duong branch said that the local functional agencies jointly checked the safety of province-based ATMs and immediately gave repair to machines with small mistakes and then allowed them to resume. Among ATMs inspected, five machines were reported to be unsafe. The local functional agencies cut off power to these ATMs and informed the banks for thorough solution.
