Binh Duong attracts nearly US$241mln in FDI for 1st two months
According to the Foreign Investment Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, many great FDI projects will start up in the coming time. Construction of the Guang Lian Dung Quat steel plant capitalized at over US$3bln is expected to start in March. In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the Safari Zoo project with a total registered capital of US$200mln will be built in late Q1 2010. The Hai Phong-based VSIP valued US$100mln also began construction in early January 2010.
In the first two months of this year, southern Binh Duong province absorbed 12 new FDI projects and 15 extra-ones with a total investment capital of US$240.964mln. The figure has brought the total number of FDI projects pouring into the province to 1,862 worth more than US$13bln. Taiwan now takes the lead among 37 countries and territories making investment in the province with 708 projects with US$3.467bln, followed by the Republic of Korea with 429 projects valued at US$1.428bln; Japan with 10 projects capitalized at US$1.404bln; Malaysia with 71 projects worth US$1.110bln…
