Isa Sai Gon Tan Tec Leather Ltd. kicked off its leather plant at Viet Huong II IP in Ben Cat district on Jan. 23. With the total investment capital of about US$8.7mil, the 5ha plant equipped advanced machines from Italia and Germany has a capacity of about 2 million cubic meters of leather per year. The plant is installed a modern waste water treatment system, helping protect environment.

The plant’s products will be provided for famous footwear makers of Timberland, New Balance, Keen, Reef, Hush Puppies and Simple Shoes.

Earlier, in Oct, 2009, the Ltd. completed a trial run and produced thousands of cubic meters of hi-quality leather products. The new factory will manufacture high-quality leather that meets the new LITE standards. These standards are based on calculations by the BLC (British Leather Technology Centre) for the average energy and water consumption of the industry — LITE products require roughly 30% less energy and 50% less water to produce.
