Local “Tam Nong” development program aims for sustainable target

Changes in rural region

This program has actually made a comprehensive change of Binh Duong province’s agriculture, farmers and rural areas. Between 2006 and 2010, the province’s value of agriculture-forestry and fisheries production reached the average growth of 4.7%. The province’s agricultural production continued being developed under commercial production with the high and effective production value, especially amid economy facing difficulties.

 

The province’s “Tam nong” development program has contributed to raising the local farmers’ production value

Thanks to sci-tech transfer and support programs well realized, the province’s agricultural production value got high growth. Particularly, the average production value of one ha of faming land reached VND58.5mln, up 46.25% of the “Tam Nong” development program’s target. The production value of the local cultivation sector gained the annual growth of 3.2% while animal husbandry increased by 13.7%...

As of late 2010, there were 35,383 buffaloes and cows, 385,197 pigs and more than 2,82mln fowls. The province’s aquaculture area was 389ha with the value production of VND47.19bln. The province grew 5 mln hectares of forest with a total investment capital of VND43bln…

The province’s “Tam Nong” development program has also actively contributed to raising the living standards of the local farmers. The average income of people living in the rural region reached VND19mln per capita per year, up 19% compared to 2008 and beyond 19% compared to the program’s target. As of late 2010, the whole province only had 3,044 poor households or 1.38% of total, a year-on-year of 4.15%. 95%, 86 % of the rural households were in use of clean water and hygienic toilets, respectively. There were 60% of the local breeding facilities with waste water treated.

Currently, there are 100% of communes, hamlets having electricity and 98% of the rural households in use of electricity; 100% of communal and ward-level health stations with doctors, midwives…; 70% of wards, communes, townships getting standards on high-school universalization education; 89% of communes, wards and townships with community learning centers…

Further paying attention to the program

At a meeting partially summing up the three-year implementation of provincial Party Committee’s Action Program No.77/CTHD-TU on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, provincial People’s Committee vice-chairman Tran Van Nam spoke highly of achievements done by the province in the “Tam Nong” development program over the past time.

He said that Binh Duong is an industrial locality, but has attached special important to agricultural development. However, Binh Duong needs to pay attention to making more credit policies for farmers, giving vocational training for rural laborers, promoting the development of craft villages in the rural region…

For the new progress, the “Tam nong” development program requires the integral efforts from the local authorities and people.
