Binh Duong is located at the Southern key economic area and lures a large quantity of import-export goods with the total value of US$15bil per year. Investment in logistics field in the locality has showed potentials, so the province has lured many big groups from Singapore, Germany, and Denmark with the total investment capital of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Mapletree Group from Singapore is vanguard in investing in logistics service in the province. In Oct. 2008, this group opened a logistics area in Binh Duong industry-service-urban complex. This is considered as Vietnam’s leading logistics area with the scale of 68ha and investment capital of US$110mil. After that, Schenker Vietnam under DB Schenker Group from Germany in March 2009 inaugurated a logistics center at Song Than I IP. The US$5.5mil project is located on an area of over one ha.

Realizing potentials for logistics service, Singpaore’s YCH and Binh Duong’s Protrade co-opened the YCH-Protrade logistics center in the end of 2010. The 6.9ha center located at Thuan An town has a capacity of 50,000 pallet and a total capital of UD$14mil.

Advantages in match with potentials

According to Schenker Vietnam general director Juergen Braunbach, ‘Binh Duong is in a key area, gathering industrial parks and suiting logistics service. This is also a proof for sustainable and strong development in Vietnam market as well as DB Schenker Group’s affirmation on long term operational commitment in Vietnam, a dynamic market’.

Lastly, on April 24, 2011 Damco - one of the world's leading providers of freight forwarding and supply chain management services – kicked off a 2.6ha multi-purposed logistics center at Di An town. The center’s US$4mil first phase is likely to offer numerous logistics services.

According to Narin Phol, CEO of Damco in Vietnam and Cambodia, ‘Binh Duong has a strategic and advantaged position for logistics development. Specifically, Damco’s logistics center at Di An town is linked closely with road traffic system, easily approaching Cat Lai and Cai Mep ports. With advantages for logistics service industry in Binh Duong, Damco targets to develop its logistics center into international goods station, linking with Indochina through trans-border logistics measures’.
