Promoting the development of the start-up and innovation movement, the provincial Youth’s Leauge, in the past time, has organized many activities to spread and replicate the startup models that apply science and technology to current members directly involved in production in youth economic development models. The development promotion of an innovation ecosystem is creating a strong start-up wave as one of the important prerequisites to contribute to build a smart city.

‘The youth incubation garden’ model developed
Implementing the movement of "Binh Duong youths joining hands to build new countryside and a civilized city" and promoting the role and youth of youth in building a model new rural area, many models of "youth incubator" is creatively deployed by the Youth’s League institutions, bearing the impression of youth.
In 2017, with a meager capital of VND 500 million and the passion for business development of ornamental plants, Mr. Dang Trung Dat of Hung Dinh ward in Thuan An city bought ornamental plants harvested from the forest to his garden. At first, due to inexperience in caring, his garden suffered from many pests and diseases. However, upholding the spirit of not giving up, he overcame the difficulties and boldly invested in expanding the area. Up to now, the total area of his garden is 30,000 m2 for planting trees such as ‘eternal’ flower (15,000 trees), marigolds (2,000 trees), sunflowers (5,000 trees), cock-crust plants (2,000 trees), yellow apricots (2,000 trees), succulents (2,000 plants), cacti (1,000 plants) and many more. In addition, he also guides union members and other members to replicate the model of planting and doing business the same way as he did. Currently, each year he earns over VND 1 billion from the garden of ornament plants.
The model of ‘youth nurseries and livelihood gardens’ is a creative way of doing things. From the initial successes, in the coming time, Binh Duong will continue to build and replicate many models contributing to promoting the start-up movement, innovation, and local economic development.
Technology transfer
In order to facilitate and promote the active and creative role of young officials and union members in studying, researching and applying scientific and technological advances to production and life while fostering quality young human resources contributing to the development of the creative startup ecosystem in the province, the provincial Youth’s League has recently cooperated with Department of Science and Technology to deploy activities, creative experience programs, technology playground and support training along with incubation, consulting, and investment connection for young people.
Many programs have been implemented such as supporting young people to learn and discover science and technology; thereby, orienting careers in the field of science and technology. Science and technology events and activities are organized for young people. Scientific and technical progress is transfered to young people to promoting scientific research activities among young people.
Recently, the Standing Committee of the provincial Youth’s League organized a training course to learn from experience, and visit the youth models of economic development, and start creative businesses for more than 100 officials and youth union members directly involved in production at establishments, farms, clubs, cooperatives among the owners of youth economic development models. Coming to the training course, visiting, and learning experience, the youth union members heard the model owners who are the youth union members boldly creating and starting such a business as startup ideas are introduced and passion, skills, experience and effectiveness of the economic development model come along.
In 2016, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan, a youth union member of Minh Hoa commune in Dau Tieng district started a business with the model of raising chickens for breeding and meat combining with raising wild boar and Siamese duck. At first, Lan had many difficulties due to her lack of experience and traditional husbandry, so the chicken were infected and half died. However, the enthusiasm of youth and passion for starting a business have helped Lan learn the knowledge to apply science and technology in animal husbandry and she has succeeded.
Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan said: “Initially, it was not successful to raise livestock in a traditional way. After learning about models and participating in training sessions on transferring applied science and technology in animal husbandry, I have brought high economic efficiency. Currently, my model has about 3,000 chicken for meat and 1,500 chicken from 1 day old to 1 month old. Not only that, I have replicated the model of raising 200 more Siamese ducks and 50 wild boars, scaling up to 7 chicken farms, 1 pig farm and 1 Siamese duck farm with a total income of more than VND 800 million a year."
The above activities have meaningfully encouraged and supported young people to start their own businesses, and promote the movement of economic development, legitimate enrichment, and improve the material and spiritual life of youth union members; thereon, contributing to economic development and building new countryside in the locality.
