Mother cow-buffalo development program benefits many farmer households

Since its inception of 2001, Dau Tieng district’s mother cow and buffalo development program has brought high efficiency and helped many farmer households rise up out of poverty.

 

Le Thi Ngoc Thuy, residing in Minh Thanh commune and Dinh Van Thoai, residing in Dau Tieng township are two typical examples for the above thing. Many other farmer households in Minh Hoa, Thanh Tuyen, Minh Thanh communes…have also escaped poverty thanks to the program.

 

In 2009 alone, Dau Tieng district spent VND4.747mln on the program, helping 323 households raise 340 cows and buffaloes. The total outstanding loan of the program has so far amounted to VND12.722bln with 1,031 borrowers for breeding 1,071 cows and buffaloes.

 

The program has also made contributions to the local hunger eradication and poverty reduction. Particularly, it over time helped 227 households free from poverty.
