Production efforts made to maintain the supplying chains

Maintaining production even at a minimum without interruption of production and supplying chains is a problem to keep the foundation for the whole economy and create momentum for a strong recovery once the Covid-19 epidemic is under control. At this time, the role, creativity, autonomy and self-responsibility of enterprises are decisive factors.

Safe production

Mr. Dang Quoc Viet, General Director of Sanaky Vietnam Company in My Phuoc 3 Industrial Park, said that with 600 workers at the factory, the enterprise organizes accommodation and work separately for each department with individual allocation at different time frames; so far no cross-infection has occurred. As a result, although the Covid-19 epidemic required the company to implement "3 on the spot", it has performed quite well as the output increased by about 15% compared to normal situation. Mr. Viet explained that the employees stayed, so the enterprise organized overtime, creating favorable conditions to increase income for employees. In order not to disrupt the supplying chain and on judging that the locality will apply social distancing, businesses have actively imported enough materials for production until the end of September 2021. It is the great effort in ensuring the health of the workers, taking the initiative in the production stages and ensuring the supplying chain for the factory.

An unnamed leader of Binh Duong Furniture Association (BIFA) said that during the Covid-19 epidemic, member businesses have been looking for ways to adapt to the situation to stabilize production and increase online trade to find new solutions among foreign partners and export expansion. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Duoc, Director of Dau Tieng Wood Joint Stock Company in Dau Tieng district, said that the Covid-19 epidemic had seriously affected production, but now the company's factories produce to the  export capacity. The company is trying its best to keep purchase orders and ensure growth in 2021. With the advantage of being in the "blue zone", the company is trying to boost production by taking advantage of opportunities that the global supplying chain offers.

Currently, many businesses are expecting that in the next 1 or 2 months there will be Covid-19 vaccines injected simultaneously to workers in factories and in the community, the disease will be well controlled. Thus, businesses can restore production and speed up to compensate. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thai, Labor Director of Esprinta Vietnam Company in Song Than 2 Industrial Park of Di An city, said that after a time of efforts to maintain 200 workers under the "3 on he spot"" option, so far, the company has prepared the necessary conditions to return to production and business in the new normal state.

Currently, the company has conducted a survey of over 6,000 workers and the good news is that 90% of them agree to return to work under safe conditions.  “Up to now, the company has completed PCR testing for workers at the “3 on the spot” production plant. The company is discussing to find the safest production method during the epidemic to complete backlog orders. The company also hopes that the industry will soon inspect and guide more about working conditions at the factory and options to control workers. When the organization is back in production, the company wishes to facilitate vaccination for employees and the local health sector also needs to return PCR results faster for the company to better control the disease," said Mr. Thai.

To remove obstacles

Talking to us about removing obstacles of  procedures and supplying raw materials for businesses during the epidemic, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Viet Dung, Director of Binh Duong Customs Department, said that the unit has been actively implementing  ad deploying many solutions to support businesses to maintain operations, clear goods, avoid disrupting the supply chain, and arrange 24/7 visual inspection departments. In particular, it has been promoting the application of information technology and modern customs management methods in handling administrative procedures for maximized efficiency. Currently, all incoming business documents are processed through the VNACCS/VCIS automatic cargo clearance system and the online customs public service system.

For the source of raw materials imported to Cat Lai port which is being congested due to overload, Binh Duong Customs Department directed Song Than Customs to coordinate with Tan Cang Song Than ICD Joint Stock Company to develop regulations on coordination of food production as well as to prepare solutions, human resources, means of transport and specialized yards for receiving the volume of containers transshipped from Cat Lai Port, to  quickly carry out customs clearance and in accordance with regulations to create favorable conditions for businesses.
