On the afternoon of March 24, provincial Women's Union held a conference kicking off Di An city’s project to collect social resources to minimize waste.
Attending the conference were Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Pernament Vice- Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, a national coordinator of the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Program.
The project has a total cost of more than VND2.9 billion, including nearly VND1.4billion from the Global Environment Facility, the United Nations Development Program and VND1.4billion from the province's corresponding capital. It is implemented within 24 months, from December to 2020, with focus on 3 key wards of the city, including Tan Binh, Dong Hoa and Di An.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Dung wanted provincial Women's Union and agencies, organizations and authorities of Di An city to well implement the set plan and use capital resources in accordance with the objectives of the project, thereby contributing to improving people, enterprises’knowledge and capacity in managing waste, developing a circular economy, minimizing environmental pollution, building and replicating an integrated management model for solid and plastic waste in residential areas.
