Purchasing power at province-based supermarkets and plazas saw sharp increase during the April 30 and May 1 holidays. Many promotion programs were also launched by supermarkets and plazas, helping them attract more customers.

As surveyed, TDM and Thuan An towns-based supermarkets and plazas, including Vinatex, Citi Mart and Co.op Mart got crowded with customers over the past days.
Purchasing power at Citi Mart and Co.op Mart saw a twofold increase during the April 30 and May 1 holidays. Co.op Mart’s promotional products and essential foods such as chicken meat, fresh food…attracted many customers.
In the two last days of April alone, Co.op Mart’s daily average turnover reached VND1.7bln, a twofold increase compared to normal days.
Province-based Vinatex chain also launched a promotional program for essential commodities such as fish sauce, seasoning powder, cooking oil, instant noodle, confectionary, household articles…with discounts of 10%-50%, beginning from April 25 to May 1.
Doan Thanh Phuong, director of province-based Vinatex supermarket said that his supermarket took initiative in stockpiling commodities at customers’ demand during the April 30 and May 1 holidays. According to statistics, the purchasing power of food products herein was two thirds times higher than normal days.
He also added that purchasing power at the supermarket during the April 30 and May 1 holidays increased by 20%-25% compared to the projection.
Meanwhile, the purchasing power of fresh food, fruit, vegetables…at province-based traditional markets grew by 30% compared to normal days. But, their prices did not see fluctuation. The prices of some kinds of fishery products also rose by VND3,000 or VND5,000 per kg…
