The prolonged drought has crippled hydroelectricity plants nationwide, causing electricity shortage. According to the Electricity Corporation No.2, the whole country will face a serious power shortage in the remaining months of this dry reason as the water levels at hydroelectricity plants is very low. Meanwhile, the electricity output generated by hydroelectricity plants now accounts for 50% of total in the national power grid.
To ensure the supply of electricity during the dry season, the Electricity Corporation No.2 has instructed its affiliates to take measures to save electricity in a synchronous way, including rotating power cuts, conducting communications programs to call for electricity savings from clients…
Binh Duong’s Department of Industry and Trade has just approved a plan to urgently cut off power to adjust the power output for 2010, said Nguyen Trung Thu, deputy director of provincial Electricity Company. Under the plan, apart from TDM town’s administrative center area, all areas in the province will be cut off power twice a week, from 6am to 22pm to ensure the operation of the national power grid.
Also according to Mr.Thu, Binh Duong Electricity Company has also sent the announcement of its power cut plan to 10,000 businesses. The time of the power cut plan will be announced in a detail way via the mass media so that businesses have reasonable adjustments for their production and trade plans. Mr.Thu also said that businesses also need to take measures for power saving.
As planned, 50% of the public lighting system across the province will face power cuts. Binh Duong Electricity Company now plans to realize information dissemination, technical support…for businesses and people so that they could effectively save power.
