After a period of urgent construction, completing the DT741 intersection, the My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway from Thu Dau Mot city to Ben Cat town with a length of 20km was opened to traffic on the morning of May 20, facilitating people’s travelling, especially during the upcoming elections. The result came from the efforts by the locality and the investor, especially in site clearance and construction so that the expressway will be officially opened to traffic in the near future, contributing to creating a driving force for economic development in localities where it goes through.
Attempts for completion
Early May 20, after the urgent time of construction and completion of the DT741 intersection, the phase 2 of the My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway project with the section from the DT741 to My Phuoc in Ben Cat town was opened to traffic. Although all the way has not officially opened to traffic, people and drivers on the route are very happy. The new road is very clear, helping shorten the route of travelling on National Highway 13 from Thu Dau Mot city to Ben Cat town, Bau Bang district that often face traffic jams at peak hours. Meanwhile, Nguyen Ngoc Phung, Vice- Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Dinh ward in Ben Cat town said that implementing the province's policy to implement the My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway project with the section from Nguyen Van Thanh street (DT741) to My Phuoc, there are 262 cases of clearing and handing over the site to the construction unit. Through mobilization work, most people agreed with the policy and handed over the site to the construction unit. “After being opened to traffic, the road will contribute to promoting socio-economic development of the province in general, Ben Cat town as well as Tan Dinh ward in particular while reducing the load on National Highway 13 at the section through Tan Dinh ward. Localities and people have high expectations that the road will contribute to changing the urban face, creating many production and business opportunities for people where it passes," said Mr. Phung.
People getting excited
As one of the local households agreeing and soon handing over the site to the construction unit, Tran Tu Le (70 years old) from Tan Dinh ward’s quarter 1 in Ben Cat town said that realizing benefits from the road, he quickly handed over his family’s land of 1,000 square meters to the construction unit so that the project will be completed soon. “Today, after seeing the completion of the intersection, we are very happy, excited and very proud of joining hands to implement the policy of compensation and site clearance, contributing to the quick completion of the work”, Mr. Le shared.
Whilst, Nguyen Van Chuong, a container truck driver who often travels from Cat Lai Port in Ho Chi Minh city to My Phuoc Industrial Park, said that he often passes the My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway. But when entering the DT741 section, he had to change direction around other routes to continue the route. "Today, the road is opened to traffic, shortening the route, saving fuel, and reducing traffic jams, so drivers are really happy," excitedly said Mr. Chuong.
The phase 2 of My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway project has a total length of 20km. After being opened to traffic, the expressway will contribute to promoting trade activities in the whole region. According to experts, the My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway, after its phase 2 is opened to traffic in connectivity with the phase 1 will contribute to saving time and costs about 30% for businesses with demand for goods transportation in comparison to the old route on the National Highway 13 that have to cross large urban areas such as Thu Dau Mot City, Thuan An City with great pressure on the number of vehicles, leading to traffic jams. The National Highway 13 is being considered for expansion with a number of overpasses and underpasses to avoid congestion while the early completion of all the My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway is being expected by exporters, transport units because of its advantages.
Mr. An said that building the My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway is line in with the modern traffic development planning, serving the local urban and industrial development. The opening of the technical traffic of the My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway is an event that the people of Ben Cat town are looking forward to, and put high expectations. Currently, the construction unit is urgently completing the sub-items of the work such as pavements, traffic signals ... for safe travel. In the coming time, along with the National Highway 13, this is one of the two arterial roads that create a momentum for the development of Ben Cat town in particular and localities, including Di An, Thuan An, Thu Dau Mot cities and Bau Bang district where the expressway passes.
It is known that the My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway has a length of 62km from Tan Van junction in Di An city’s Binh Thang ward to Bau Bang district with total investment of about VND4.3 trillion. The expressway is divided into two phases, including: the Phase I has been completed and put into use, with 42km in length from Tan Van junction to Ben Cat town; the Phase 2 from DT741 intersection in Ben Cat town’s Tan Dinh ward to Bau Bang Industrial Park with 20km in length, has fulfilled and opened to traffic for the DT741 intersection. The 10-lane My Phuoc - Bau Bang section with 11km in length is also urgently being completed for connectivity of the whole route.
