Woodwork exporters face difficulties

According to the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association, Vietnamese woodwork exporters now face big barriers, including the US’s Lacey Act and the EU’s FLEGT Act. Under the acts, all wood products must have certificates proclaiming that they are made from the legally exploited wood.

Another thing is that the competitiveness of Vietnamese woodwork exporters is still limited. Whilst, Vietnam’s woodwork industry has set the target of reaching US$5.4bln of export turnover by 2015 and the figure will be brought to US$7bln by 2010.
