The 1st Vietnam Fruit Festival officially kicked off at My Tho city of the Mekong province of Tien Giang on April 19. Possibly speaking, the first national Fruit Festival luring 800 stalls of localities nationwide exhibits their products. Besides, during the festival, there will also be three seminars to raise the added values of domestic fruit, ten contests and over ten related festives to honor fruits.
Trademark affirmation
Tran The Ngoc, chairman of Tien Giang province People’s Committee cum head of the organizing board of the first event of its kind in Vietnam, said with the theme of ‘Vietnam’s Fruit in the Process of Integration’, the festival is expected to bring fadeless impressions on tourists. Through this festival farmers, scientists, state managers, and businesses will meet, exchange and seek solutions to raise the added values of domestic fruit. The fruit festival is also a national socio-economic, tourism-cultural event, bounding for the 1,000th anniversary of Ha Noi. The festival therefore not only affirms Vietnam fruit’s trademark but is an action in conformity with the Party’s instruction on agriculture-farmer-urban area to honor growers nationwide.
The event brings together well-known fruit trademarks such as Hoa Loc mango, Long Co Co grapefruit, An Phuoc plum, Lo Ren Vinh Kim star apple, Ngu Hiep durian, Cho Gao dragon fruit, and Tan Lap pineapple, Lai Thieu mangosteen and so on.
The Ngoc added, aside from marketing for Vietnam fruits, honoring growers, the festival is a bridge to introduce Vietnam’s specialties to the world.
Position enhancement
Dang Thanh Liem, director of Tien Giang province Trade and Industry department said the festival not only affirms Vietnam fruits’ trademarks but enhances its position. This will be proved by three seminars named ‘Vietnam fruit-opportunity and challenge in int’l economic integration’, ‘linking up farmers, scientists, state managers, and businesses to raise the added values of domestic fruit’, and ‘orchards in combination with eco-tourism development’. Besides, through the event local and foreign tourists will learn more about history of Vietnamese agriculture’s development, contributing to build a firm position for Vietnam fruits, expanding cooperation relations and spreading Vietnam fruits to the world.
