Power cut remains existent nationwide and the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has yet to define the exact time of power cut stop. This makes generators become a top choice of many families and businesses.
Demand on generators is now on the rise, showing that the product is no longer a luxury product but an essential one for many families in the ‘season’ of power cut. According to generator shops’ owners in Thu market, generators in this year sell like hot cakes.
Nguyen Xuan Thanh, the owner of De Thanh eatery on Le Hong Phong Street, said ‘I decide to buy a generator because I can not stand the constant situation of power cut. We can not vex clients’. Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Dung in Chanh Nghia ward decided to purchase a dynamo because he can not stand hot weather all day.

Clients choose generators at Thanh Loc home appliance supermarket.
Experts warn that many fake generators labeled from Japan and the US have appeared on the market. Therefore, clients should learn about origin and capacity of generators.
Generators with the capacity of 2-5KVA is the best selling product. This kind is suitable for families. The product is from Thailand, Japan, Italia, Korea or their components are fixed at Vietnam, pricing at VND7-21mil per unit.
Ms.Oanh, the staff of Thanh Loc home appliance supermarket, said generators with the capacity of 1KVA suit households to use essential equipments of fans, TV, light. If they want to use air conditioner, they should buy dynamos with the capacity of 3-5KVA. Generators imported from Japan, Thailand or joint venture companies are liked best, despite their prices.
According to generator shops, this year’s dynamo market has started heated up since May. Phuong Hong home appliance shop’s owner, said there were many clients buying the product in early April but the shop remained passive later, owing to high demand. Similarly, Thanh Loc home appliance supermarket has now sold nearly 200 various generators to clients.
Not only the shops land in an embarrassing situation, but main agents are dog-tired, owing to high demand. Ta Thi Ta, head of Huu Toan JSC’s business department, said ‘in April, May and early June, we were constantly in shortage of generators, despite well preparation’.
This year’s dynamo market is more plentiful than previous years, owing to the appearance of Huu Toan JSC, specializing in fixing dynamo components with the cheaper price than imported ones.
To meet the rising demand on dynamo, second hand generators imported from foreign countries have appeared on the market with the quality of 70%, 80%, pricing at VND3-8mil per unit. Huu Toan JSC located at Thuan Giao commune, Thuan An district launches services of selling and leasing dynamos with the capacity of 27-100KVA.
Demand on dynamo is on the rise, so its price surges along. Expectedly, prices of generators will surge further if power cut exists.
