Gift shops’ owners say the purchasing power will increase in the last minute of March 8.

Telecommunication companies have launched promotional programs for mobile subscribers on the day. MobiFone granted 50% of value of pre-paid cards from March 9-11. At supermarts of Vinatex, Citimart, products for women have been overwhelmed across shelves. Like previous years, cosmetics packed as gift packages are the most popular items with the prices from VND40,000-200,000. Besides, many clients like to buy gift cards for their women. This is one of popular services.

Along Binh Duong Avenue, especially in the front of schools and universities’ gates gathers many students with a part-time job of selling flowers.

Moreover, gifts for the women’s day include cards with the price of VND10,000-20,000 per unit.

Tai, the owner of G9X gift shop on Aug. Revolution Street hoped that the purchasing power would increase on the peak day. Previous years, many clients had to stand in line to wait for packing gifts but in this year the purchasing power declines sharply.

Like Tai, an owner of gift shop on Yersin Road said expensive products do not lure many clients. Most of clients to his shop select cards.

Contrary to lively ambience on the days near the women’s day, flower shops at the town still have few customers. Flower sellers said this year’s purchasing power would decline from last year.

According to owners of gift and flower shops, owing to the global economic crisis’ influence, clients will choose products with reasonable prices instead of hi-grade items. To stimulate purchasing power, many shops have applied many measures. To say, at G9X shop, most of products are offered a 10-20% discount.

To please customers, many shops deliver gifts free of charge within the town.
