Currently, breeding areas in Phu Giao district are developed towards biosafety to help strictly control epidemics with high-tech concentrated livestock farms gradually replacing the small-sized ones. The district has also been granted the certificate of disease-free zone for foot-and-mouth disease and swine fever under the Department of Animal Health’s Decision No. 119 / QD-TY-DT dated February 26, 2018; the certificate of disease-free zone for Newcastle disease in poultry.
Up to now, the district has had 231,582 pigs, 216,000 buffaloes, 3,750 cows and 2,109 fowls. The district’s livestock sector is a bright spot in agricultural development, which is organized under the model of large-scale farm.
